After a 2 1/2 year closure, multiple failed bidding rounds, and a deep pocketed savior stepping in, Horsepark is set to re-open in early July.
HITS, a large well known national equestrian show operator, has a long list of equestrian shows slated for 2023 at the newly renovated Horsepark. You can view their lineup as well as purchase a $20 parking pass (attendance is free) or VIP seating for various events on their Del Mar Horsepark website. The grand opening week will culminate on Saturday July 15th for their $100K Grand Prix with a dog agility show as the warmup and a 24K Magic concert after the equestrian event. The Grand Pavillion VIP tables are already sold out for that event, although other VIP tables are still available, and there will be lots of free seating around the large grass main arena.
HITS will be running A level hunter/jumper shows, dressage (via San Diego Dressage), all breed, and even county shows (via SCHC) at Horsepark this year.
This all comes on the heels of a much needed $10M renovation that HITS invested in refurbishing Horsepark that included new state of the art ebb and flow drainage systems, new footing, renovated barn stalls with mats, new electrical work, new structures, and mitigation measures to adhere to state water quality concerns.
You’ll also see a new café with an updated food and beverage menu and covered seating for diners, along with renovated restrooms.
With an experienced operator in place, the equestrian community can expect many years of enjoyable activities at our local iconic show grounds.
