What is linocut? Maybe you remember it from art class in school? A linocut is a type of block print and bears similarities to woodblock printing. Essentially, the artist carves an image into a linoleum (lino) block and what’s left of the block is inked and printed.

In the first class, Laura will give you an introduction to the process and you will make a simple single-color linocut.  You will leave with your unique design printed on paper notecards which can be given to your special valentine.

In the second class, you will build on the technique and have the option to print on paper or fabric to create notecards or dish cloths.   Linocuts were originally made popular by Picasso and has emerged as an art form for many inspirational artists today.

There will be a $25 charge for supplies paid to the instructor.

Tuesday, February 7 & 14, 10:00-11:00 am (there will be an additional hour of optional lab time).

Please call the Senior Center at 858 756-3041 to register.
