Stories from the Ranch: A Life Built on Truth & Trust

For those of us who love Rancho Santa Fe – not just for its beauty, but for the stories, people and history that made it what it is – the Rancho Santa Fe Historical Society’s next Speaker Series promises to be a special evening.

On Wednesday, August 26, from 5 to 7 p.m., Richard “Dick” Clotfelter will speak at La Flecha House about his new book, Truth & Trust: Resilience & Strong Relationships Build Lasting Success, as part of the Historical Society’s Stories from the Ranch series.

And Dick brings a particularly interesting perspective to that conversation. His family’s involvement in shaping Rancho Santa Fe stretches back nearly 100 years giving him a connection to this community that few can share. His family knew the Ranch when it was still taking shape – and has watched it grow, change and evolve across generations.

In Truth & Trust, Dick explores the importance of resilience, strong relationships and the trust that binds people together over time – themes that seem particularly fitting in a community whose own history has depended so much upon stewardship, relationships and a shared sense of place.

For history lovers, it’s a chance to hear from someone with a living connection to Rancho Santa Fe’s past. And for the rest of us, it’s an opportunity to spend an evening thinking about the remarkable and storied history of the place we are fortunate enough to call home.

The event will be held at La Flecha House, 6036 La Flecha, from 5 to 7 p.m. Wine and snacks will be provided. Admission is free for Rancho Santa Fe Historical Society members and $35 for non-members. RSVP to Membership Director Christian Potter at po********@***il.com.
