The sale of the Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club was made official this month. RSF resident Bruce Kleege of Kleege Enterprises purchased the Garden Club for $2.8 million, and intends to help it remain part of the community where events can be held.
Garden Club members voted to approve the purchase with 94 percent on board. The California Attorney General also approved the purchase.
Bruce Kleege went through a rigorous interview process with the Garden Club Board and was determined the best offer for the purchase.
Kleege will not be managing the Garden Club and will look for an event planning company to maintain and lease out the space.
Kleege told the RSF Review why he decided to purchase the property:
“I recognized it as being a really good piece of real estate, first thing, and then I decided maybe I’ll do something more than strictly investment and do something for the community. I thought it was a necessary piece of property for Rancho Santa Fe … my social conscience kicked in. I had the means to buy it and preserve it for the community to use for a long time.”
“We’re going to fix the place up. It’s a beautiful location; the building is just fine right now, but it’s just a little dated. We’ll bring it into the character of the community a little more.”
A new website was launched for the Garden Club’s event side of business. The site, RSFGardenclub.org, states that it will handle and host weddings, parties, corporate events, meetings, Holiday events, music festivals, pageants, among other things.
