The Silvergate Situation: RSF Town Hall Slated

The proposed 178-unit Silvergate senior living development is modeled after their Rancho Bernardo facility (above) with duplexes, apartments, and a memory care unit.

You’re Invited to a Rancho Santa Fe Covenant Town Hall and Panel Discussion to listen, learn and discuss the proposed Silvergate senior living development at the corner of Calzada del Bosque and Via de la Valle. The Town Hall is 4-6 PM, Tuesday, September 30, at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. A no-host bar will be offered.

There are so many questions. So far, the only information we have is from the owner of the Silvergate chain of retirement cities. (No nursing care is offered.) Silvergate is a large, for-profit company that intends to build a gated development of rentals larger than our central RSF Village blocks. The very thing the covenant is NOT. They have a business plan that suits themselves and believe they scored a wealthy community to take advantage of. Please get involved — you will be shocked at the details.

We all need more answers – here are a few:

  • Is it owner-occupied step-down housing? NO
  • Did the community get a chance to approve Silvergate? NO
  • Is it a rental unit development complex? YES
  • What are the Fire, Traffic, Flood and Emergency evacuation implications? PROBLEMS
  • Is it a planned gated community bigger than our village core? YES
  • Could your property value go down? YES

Important Dates

  • Sept 30, 4-6 PM -Town Hall Meeting at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe
  • Oct 7, 9:30 AM – Art Jury Meeting, RSF Association Offices

Please sign up via the link www.protectthecovenant.net and submit questions for the Town Hall meeting. We will make sure to research and address all of them. This is our sacred community to cherish, love, enjoy and protect.
