RSFGC’s Director of Agronomy Tom Huesgen

After an extensive, collaborative and deliberate process, Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club is pleased to announce Tom Huesgen as Director of Agronomy. Since 2014, Mr. Huesgen has served as Director of Golf Course Operations and Golf Course Superintendent at Sahalee Country Club, recognized by Golf Digest as the #1 golf course in the state of Washington and one of America’s Top 100 courses. Prior to his accomplished tenure at Sahalee, Mr. Huesgen served as Project Manager overseeing the complete renovation of Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, assisted in developing and opening a private golf club in Colorado, and served as Golf Course Superintendent at Pebble Beach and the Links at Spanish Bay. Mr. Huesgen received his college degree from the College of Agricultural Science at Oregon State University, where he majored in Horticulture.

With over 20 years of experience at top golf courses in the country, Mr. Huesgen developed in-depth knowledge of renovations to existing golf courses, turfgrass management and environmental stewardship. He has also gained diverse tournament experience in preparation for PGA Tour, USGA and high-profile member golf events, including the 2016 Women’s PGA Championship. Mr. Huesgen has also demonstrated strong personnel management skills in hiring, training, and staff evaluation that emphasize a hands-on approach, teaching, and one-on-one communication.

RSFGC is very excited to welcome Mr. Huesgen as Director of Agronomy during the week of May 10th. Without question, Mr. Huesgen’s demonstrated skills and extensive leadership in agronomy, financial and golf course management, and facility improvements will enable RSFGC to fulfill its Mission and Vision Statement of becoming one of the finest golf clubs in America.
