As I navigate the days after the campaign trail, I thought it was important to thank everyone who chatted with me, opened their homes, and businesses to support me.
We are in great shape – this wasn’t about me personally (although some were very interested). This is about our community – and the community won. The same day the election results came in, the Board voted to invest in Osuna Ranch events, which is exactly what the community wants. The Board also voted to deny the variance request for the gas station development (meaning yes, you can develop, but you need to follow the governing document rules).
My reason for running was to represent our community, provide Facts, Town Halls, and Advisory Votes so the Board can follow what we, the homeowners, want, and based on Tuesday’s votes, the Board represented us.
We are in good hands with the new boys, and I will continue to pop in when needed to provide lots of you with insight, facts (kinda like Osuna Ranch makes money and the community doesn’t want to sell it). And do we really know what’s happening with the Silvergate project? Do we really know the impact, good and bad? Have we seen a traffic study? Do we all know it’s a rental unit complex? If you moved here for dark skies, we might want to ask how they are going to commercially light the place at the same time – very confusing. There are a lot more answers at the new website launched by the new Executive Director of Protect Rancho Santa Fe: ProtectRSF.com.
So yes, my friends and family are proud of my efforts; even my late husband would have been beyond proud. My NYC friends are still calling me back to work in the city, stay involved with our family Foundation, and ride horses in Wellington (see you soon), but my future life living among the lemon orchard in my forever ranch home on La Valle Plateada, with 100s of new Covenant friends, and Katherine Girl Beauty expanding, looks busy and bright.
I encourage all of you to stay involved, join committees, and run for office because, no matter what happened, I learned we all have one thing in common – we love the Covenant, the land, the privacy, the horses, our friends, and of course our world-class Golf Course.
