It appears there are at least three existing drugs that may help severe COVID-19 infections. None of them, of course, are approved for treatment of this disease, so you would have to work with a doctor to get enrolled into a “compassionate use” program to have these drugs administered. The drugs are Favilavir, an anti-viral, Remdesivir, also an anti-viral, and Tocilizumab, a drug used for rheumatoid arthritis. It is an anti-inflammatory, which seems to prevent a cytokine storm from your immune system. One of the problems with acute COVID-19 is that your immune system might over react and cause significant organ damage. Tocilizumab might suppress that.

More information about these drugs and their efficacy can be seen in this article. Use Google Chrome to view it and respond to the translate prompt if you don’t read Italian: https://www.corriere.it/economia/aziende/20_marzo_13/medicinali-anti-coronavirus-roche-cede-gratis-farmaco-contro-l-artrite-902c3aca-6501-11ea-ac89-181bb7c2e00e.shtml?refresh_ce-cp

Therapies are being discovered. China has been doing drug screens and found this promising, easily obtained and generic drug (via prescription) that acts as an anti-viral against COVID-19. Information about this starts around 1m30s of this video.

This YouTube video gives information on a promising antibody cure for COVID-19, But beyond that, both the New Zealand reporter and the California researcher are a joy to listen to. Intelligent questions and excellent answers.
